Dentures are removable artificial teeth and gums. They can be either partial or full dentures depending on your needs and can be either for the top or bottom or both of your mouth. Full and partial dentures are artificial teeth and gums, which are generally removable. Unlike dentures of the past, modern dentures look natural and fit much better.

When patients want additional security for their full dentures, we offer implant-retained dentures or bridges to solve the problem of missing teeth.

The colour of your dentures will be made to match your natural teeth and gums by your dentist. Dentures are also custom fitted to your mouth, so will become comfortable for you to eat with and talk without impairment.

Partial Dentures to Fill the Gaps

Partial dentures are used when there are remaining teeth in a patient’s mouth. The partial denture can either be a permanent fixture or may be removable. A fixed partial denture is known as a bridge.

Partial dentures come in a variety of bases to choose from. Your Alderley dentist will help you decide which will work best for you: chromium, acrylic or flexible options.

Full (Complete) Dentures

Full dentures are recommended when a patient is missing all their teeth from with there upper or lower arch, or sometimes both. Full dentures are removable and consist of a pink resin base with artificial denture teeth that look natural. We will help you choose the tooth shade and shape that looks natural based on your age, skin tone and gender.

Immediate Dentures

If you are concerned about going without teeth after full-mouth extractions, immediate dentures allow you to leave our Alderley dental clinic with your teeth on the same day. You will need regular fitting appointments throughout the healing process.

Once your mouth is completely healed, you will be able to have your final denture created and fitted to your smile.

Will it take long for me to get used to my dentures?

After first being fitted with your dentures you may find that you bite the inside of your cheek or tongue when talking or eating. This is totally normal while you are getting used to your new dentures. If you had any teeth extracted before your dentures were fitted, you might also experience some pain in your gums. While getting used to your new dentures (or dealing with any pain) eat soft, manageable foods.

Do You Have Ill-Fitting Dentures?

Because of changes in bone structure, your denture will last approximately 5-7 years, and it will need to be replaced. While relines can prolong the life of your denture, option to replace yours every few years will keep you smiling and eating the foods you love.
