Teeth Whitening in Alderley

Your whiter smile awaits.

Teeth whitening under the supervision of an experienced dentist will give you better results than store-bought options.

Whitening works by lightening the middle layer, also known as dentine, of our teeth. The hard outer coating of our teeth has microscopic pores that absorb stains. Teeth whitening agents, usually carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide, penetrate the teeth to remove stains that have embedded there.

Having your teeth whitened at Alderley Dental is a quick, easy and safe process, and takes less than an hour.

  1. Your mouth will be prepared for whitening and a layer of whitening gel is applied to your teeth. This will be applied up to three times during the treatment.
  2. A blue LED light will be positioned over your teeth to help speed up the process.
  3. Once the whitening process is complete, we will apply some special gel onto your teeth to protect the enamel and reduce any sensitivity.

We will be by your side during the whole process, and will reduce the intensity of the LED light if you experience any sensitivity.

Our at-home whitening treatments are available as part of our Teeth Whitening for Life program.

Unlike the products you find online or at the shops, our take-home treatment is tailored for your exact requirements.

  1. We will create customised whitening trays after taking impressions of your teeth, and provide whitening gel and tailored instructions from our staff to help you achieve the results you desire.
  2. You can then use the whitening trays in the comfort of your own home, over a period of 10-14 days.

You will start seeing some results after a week, with the final results taking 2-3 weeks.

Teeth will develop stains over time due to red wine, coffee, tea and smoking. You can retain your custom whitening trays to touch-up your smile whenever new stains develop.

Most discolouration can be removed by bleaching, which is a very conservative, safe and non-invasive approach to creating a brighter, more appealing smile.

We recommend arranging an evaluation with one of our Alderley Dental cosmetic dentists to find out if your teeth are healthy enough for teeth whitening. There are some stains such as tetracycline and fluorosis that are difficult to bleach, so other options, such as veneers or dental crowns may be more suitable for your situation.

Since teeth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, opting to whiten your teeth before having fillings, crowns or veneers for brighter results

Research indicates that tooth whitening shows no changes to the surface of the teeth when a bleaching solution is used. Therefore, there is no damage to the tooth whatsoever.

Teeth whitening is not a permanent whitening method, and the result can vary among patients.

Some patients also experience some discomfort due to the sensitivity of their teeth throughout the whitening process. This can vary, and there are usually things we can do to minimise the discomfort of this feeling. We will discuss this with you at your whitening appointment.
